  1. In the oven method it says to heat the oven to maximum and it could take 10 hours to 2 days. My oven goes to 500, wouldn’t this incinerate them in ten hours?

    1. In the oven method it says heat to minimum and not maximum. You have read it incorrectly (happens with many of us). Choose a temperature of 60 to 70 degrees Celsius (140 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit).

  2. I think there might be an error on the page. Twice ‘amchur power’ was mentioned, when I think it might have been intended to be ‘amchur powder’. I apologize if it is my mistake.5 stars

  3. Hi Dassana. Do you grind whole turmeric to make turmeric powder in a mixie? What about red chilli powder? Should I dry roast the dried red chillies in a pan before grinding them in a mixie. Thanks, Lakshmi

    1. i don’t make turmeric powder at home. i buy organic turmeric powder. but turmeric powder can be made at home. you will have to give the whole turmeric pieces to a grinding mill which only grinds spices. in a mixie, it can be difficult. so better to give to a grinding mill. for red chilies, place them in the sun for a couple of days. if you don’t have sun, then just lightly roast the red chilies. but make sure that the color does not change. then you can grind in a grinder.
