  1. Made it and it was fantastic. We grilled the brinjal and tomatoes. And baked the litti. We do not add any cumin or fennel seeds as per the recipe passed down from our grandmother, everything else was the same. The result was mind blowing. Always loved your recipes. Thank you and all the best.4 stars

  4. Hi.i how to make litti in samsung microwave grill oven .I tried it before, but it came out very hard.pls give some suggestion.i dont have baking tray.shall I try to bake in square glass dish?

    1. gayathri, you can try using the grill option. but do not use combination of grill and microwave. also do not use microwave as microwaving will make the littis very hard. you can use a glass dish. use a temperature of 180 degrees celsius both for preheating and grilling.

  5. One of my relative was saying that litti is always fried in ghee. Is it true.
I have vever made litti.5 stars

    1. Shobhs, its not necessary. If you want then you can do it provided you can digest it. Traditionally Litti are roasted on hot charcoal or dried cow dung fire.

    1. avoid microwaving as the littis will become hard. you can make on a tawa or pan. just roast them for some time and then with a pair of tongs place them on fire like we do for phulkas and get them have a few charred spots.

  6. Hi Dassana,

I m planning to make litti chokha, but I have a question. As per ur recipe, the dough for preparing litti should be soft and smooth, whereas while preparing bati, the dough should be little hard than the chapati dough.
I guess dough for making bati and litti remains same. Isn’t it?
Also I wud really love to appreciate ur recipes, I use it very frequently. And bcoz of tht, I have started trying different-different recipe, even though I really dont like cooking.

    1. swati, in bati more ghee is added. so a semi soft dough gives a nice crumbly and sof texture. in litti since less ghee is added, its best to have a smooth dough. otherwise the litti will become hard.

thanks for your kind words and positive comments. do let me know how the recipe goes for you.

  7. Thanku mam means I have to on both rods..Do I have to reduce temp rature also bcoz my oven is small

  8. I have Morphy Richards OTG 18 ltr I tried making litti in ur style even used center rack I placed butter paper on baking tray I got with oven but instead of getting golden color I got black color..From bottom.do I have to heat up both upper and down rods..For baking manual has given to heat only down rods… PLZ,z help…5 stars

    1. if you place the pan near or close to the bottom heating element, the food will get browned or burnt from top if only the bottom heating element is used. for the littis, you have to keep both the heating elements since you have a small oven. for a larger oven, if kept in the center rack, then only the bottom heating element can be safely used. hope this helps.
