Mohabbat ka sharbat is a chilled milk-based drink made with rose syrup and fresh watermelon, popular in North India. It has a light pink color, mild sweetness and a refreshing taste. Sabja seeds are often added for texture and cooling effect but can be skipped. This easy no-cook drink is best served cold as a summer refresher.
* 2 to 2 ½ cups watermelonfinely chopped (small cubes) I used 3
* 3 tablespoons sugaroptional, adjust to taste
* 6 to 8 ice cubesoptional
* 2 tsp sabja seeds soaked in 1 cup water. or 4 to 5 tbsp soaked sabja I added 5 tbsp
Instructions
Chill the milk and watermelon until cold.
Soak sabja seeds in water until they swell, then strain.
In a jug, mix chilled milk with rose syrup until the color turns light pink.
Taste and add sugar if needed. Stir to dissolve.
Add rose water if using and mix gently.
Fold in finely chopped watermelon.
Add soaked sabja seeds and mix.
Drop in ice cubes if preferred.
Pour into glasses and serve mohabbat ka sharbat immediately.
Notes
Use chilled ingredients for best taste
Cut watermelon into small even cubes
Adjust sugar based on sweetness of melon
Do not store after mixing
Add sabja seeds only after soaking well
