Cook the macaroni pasta in salted boiling water till al dente or just cooked.
Drain the cooked macaroni pasta in a strainer.
Grease a baking dish with some softened butter.
Next, melt butter in a microwave safe bowl.

For the cheese sauce, heat butter in a thick bottomed sauce pan on low flame.
When the butter melts completely, add all-purpose flour (maida) to it.
Using a wired whisk, stir the flour as soon as it is added. Keep stirring so that lumps don't form.
The frequent stirring helps the flour to cook evenly.
Sauté the flour till it turns pale golden and fragrant. Don’t brown the flour.

Stir often, as the sauce begins to thicken.

Remove the pan from heat and wait for a minute. Then, add shredded cheese. To know more, swipe up!
Stir and mix so that the cheese melts.
The cheese needs to melt well in the hot white sauce (bechamel sauce) to form the cheese sauce.
Add crushed black pepper and nutmeg powder.

Stir the cheese sauce once again.
Add the cooked paste to the cheese sauce and mix thoroughly with a spoon.
Add the prepared mac and cheese in the greased baking dish.
Sprinkle the prepared breadcrumbs-butter mixture generously on top.
Also, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
Sprinkle some crushed black pepper also on top.
Bake in preheated oven at 200 degrees C or 390 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes. To know more, swipe up!
