French Beans Rice Recipe – By the title you know the 2 F’s are french beans and flaxseed.

As you know by now, this is a simple and healthy rice recipe.  It is easy and no frills recipe.  I always try to add flaxseed in my meals, wherever I can. This is one such recipe. You can have the rice with any veg curry or dal. It is similar to pulao but without the addition of onions and tomatoes. I made the rice in a microwave but you can cook the rice in a pan or pressure cooker too.

French Beans Flaxseed Rice Recipe

Method to make the French Beans Flaxseed Rice Recipe:

  1. Pick, wash the rice. Soak the rice for 30 mins in water.
  2. In a microwave cooker, add oil and microwave on full power for 30 seconds
  3. Add the whole garam masala and microwave for another 30 seconds
  4. Now add the chopped french beans and microwave for a minute.
  5. Add the soaked rice with the flaxseeds. Add 2 cups of water and salt.
  6. Microwave for 10-12 mins on full power.
  7. Give a standing time of 5 mins after the rice is done.
  8. Serve the healthy french beans flaxseed rice with a dal or any vegetable gravy dish.

INGREDIENTS FOR French Beans Flaxseed Rice Recipe

(1 CUP = 250 ML)
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • ½ tablespoon flaxseeds
  • ½ cup french beans, chopped
  • 1 or 2 strands of mace (jayitri or javitri)
  • 2 green cardamom (hari elaichi or choti elaichi)
  • 1 black cardamom (badi elaichi)
  • ½ inch cinnamon (dalchini)
  • 2 cloves (lavang)
  • 2 cups water
  • vegetable oil
  • salt
