this is a no frills ice cream made with less ingredients and one which is quick to prepare. so don’t expect the texture to be like the strawberry ice cream one gets in the market and by the brands. yet the ice cream is good and is pretty much like a simple homemade ice cream.

  • I haven't tried ice cream at home yet.. these days I see tons of post on ice cream planning to try soon.. This looks so tasty

  • With so much chocolate related recipes doing rounds, and having indulged in more than my fair share of chocolates for the V'day, I could really use this to satisfy my sweet-tooth.
I have a lazier version of this ice-cream though. I just chop my berries and freeze them. Once frozen I just run them through a food processor with some whipping cream, sugar and vanilla. :)

  • Hi Dassana this ice cream looks great ...will try soon ...plz post vanilla ice cream recipe also without using ice cream maker if possible...thanks tc.

      • Hi dasana.so easy your recipe, wanted to try.Can I use semi-skimmed milk (for diet purpose) and sweetened condensed milk? Will it vary the taste?

        • yes you can use both of them. the taste will be different and the texture will be more smooth. reduce the sugar if using sweetened condensed milk.

      • Dassana, thanks for the reply. I made this ice cream on 22.2.14 and it was really very good. But the texture, as you said was not so perfect. Still feeling happy. Thank You

        • thanks nimmi for the feedback. the texture is not perfect but its a feel good recipe, especially for kids and adults who love ice cream.

    • thanks meena. yes you can use full fat cream. it will give a more creamier and smoother texture to the ice cream.

  • This looks so appetizing ! But instead of strawberries, can we use strawberry jam ? Please reply :)

  • hi,

I have made it three times. The taste was yummy, but texture was not good as yours. No regrets for that as that is the difference between Master & novice.

Thank you ma'am as first time i had made Ice cream.

    • hi bhumika. in the second whipping round, if the icecream mixture is whipped well, then you should get a good texture. it should slightly double up in volume. thanks bhumika. i am not a master, just that i have some cooking experience. its all about learning. i still have bad days when things just go wrong with some recipes.

  • Hi,
I tried this recipe. It came out perfect. My kids loved the ice cream and kept asking for more. Thank you for the recipe. I am planning to make it again, can I use hand blender for whipping after the ice cream has partially set and then re-freeze?

    • yes you can use hand blender. i also use it at times. welcome and thanks for the feedback.

  • Hey dear.. Tried this n it CME out perfrctly awesome.... So next tym I tried wit litchi flavour as my husband loves it... BT second tym whippkn don't turn up into cremy texture... Can I know y it could be.. I have used condensed milk instead of cream both the times.. Pls help... Thnke u

    • i think its due to the litchis. so depending on the quality of fruits, the result will change. this recipe will go very well with fruits like bananas and mangoes.

  • Whole fat milk and full cream milk are same or differtnt? Becoz i have full cream milk, so can i use that milk?

    • hey thanks suvidha. remind me that strawberries are in season and i haven't made anything with them. since winters are going on, i will add ice cream recipes once the winters go away :-)

  • Hi..
I want to make ice cream in ice cream maker and most of the recipe available online need to put egg while making ice cream... Why is it used..?? and is there any good vegetarian substitute available..?
    Thanks..

    • egg gives the ice cream light and soft texture. thats why they are added in most of them. you can add whipped cream, condensed milk, custard powder or corn starch as an egg substitute. fruit purees or pulps like banana puree, mango puree and applesauce also give good results.

  • Thank you so much for the recipe.
Condensed milk can be substituted instead of cream and sugar both or only cream?

  • Thank you so much for this recipe.
Can condensed milk be used as a substitute of both cream and sugar or only cream.

  • I made this ice cream. It turned out perfect.
I also made it by using condensed milk. Both ways it was awesome.
    Thank you so much.

    • welcome beena and thanks again. i need to try the condensed milk version, after your feedback. will give a try.

  • Mam can we substitute strawberries with pineapple in case we want to make pineapple ice cream, or maybe I could substitute mango with pineapple in mango ice cream recipe that you posted.please let me know ....I just love pineapple ice cream. .

    • with pineapple, one has to take care as the enzyme bromelain in pineapple can react with the milk and make it taste bitter. this has happened with me once. so i am careful with pineapple. what i would suggest is that cook the pineapple in some sugar. let them soften and then make a puree. let the cooked pineapple pieces cool down completely and then make a puree. make the puree first and then add milk, cream etc and then blend. you can follow either the mango ice cream or this strawberry ice cream recipe.

  • I am going to try ice cream recipes as suggested by you... I am beginner in this area.
Just wanted to complement you that Your blog is awesome. What I like is simplicity in ingredients and method.
Stepwise pictures make it more easy to understand recipe.
    Just keep it up.
